French adjustable wall lamp from the 1950s, attributed to Robert Mathieu (1921–2002).
Made of red lacquered metal and brass, it features a distinctive articulated and extendable structure that allows the light source to be repositioned. Its design combines functionality with a strong sculptural presence, representative of mid-20th-century French lighting.
The contrast between the intense red lacquer of the shade and the warm patina of the brass is particularly striking. Thanks to its extendable arm, it can be used as a reading lamp, bedside sconce, or decorative light fixture.
The lamp is preserved in its original condition, with an attractive patina acquired over time. It shows wear, minor losses of lacquer, scratches, and surface marks, especially visible on the red shade, as well as oxidation and natural patina on the brass elements. These signs are consistent with its age and use and can be seen in the photographs.
The lamp was tested and was in working order at the time of cataloging.
