The “Semi” pendant lamp, designed by Danish architects Claus Bonderup (1944–2022) and Torsten Thorup (b. 1943) for the prestigious manufacturer Fog & Mørup, Denmark.
Considered one of the most recognizable designs in Scandinavian lighting of its era, the Semi is characterized by its geometric purity. Its wide metal shade begins with a thin horizontal edge and gradually rises to form a pronounced central cone, creating a light and distinctly sculptural silhouette.
This particular example stands out for its large dimensions, with a diameter of 70 cm, and its elegant gold metallic finish. The reflective surface enhances the curves of the shade and creates attractive variations in light and reflections.
Designed by Bonderup and Thorup in the late 1960s and later produced by Fog & Mørup, the Semi became one of the emblematic designs of Danish modernism, combining functionality, formal simplicity, and a strong visual presence.
The lamp has been rewired and is in very good overall condition. It shows slight surface marks, signs of use, and patina consistent with its age, with no significant visible damage.
with a diameter of 70 cm, it is particularly well-suited as a statement piece above a large dining table or in spacious rooms.
