A beautifully proportioned Czech Art Deco glass decanter, most likely dating to the 1920s–1930s, distinguished by its striking blue coloration, substantial architectural form and finely executed engraved decoration.
The decanter is formed as a softly rounded rectangular vessel with thick blue glass borders that frame the lighter central panels. Both principal faces and the side panels are decorated with delicate hand-engraved floral compositions, combining stylized blossoms, leaves and circular accents. The large geometric stopper continues the decorative scheme with an engraved flower across its upper surface, creating a particularly harmonious and sophisticated overall design.
The combination of heavy faceted glass, geometric construction and naturalistic engraved decoration is characteristic of Czechoslovak / Bohemian decorative glass of the Art Deco period. Comparable pieces are sometimes associated with the circle of Heinrich Hoffmann and other leading Czech glass workshops, although no maker’s mark is visible on this example; therefore, the attribution to a specific manufacturer remains preliminary and is not stated as definitive.
Despite similarities with smaller Czech perfume bottles of the period, the substantial dimensions and capacity of this example clearly identify it as a decanter.
The piece is particularly attractive in person, with the varying thickness of the blue glass producing pronounced changes in tone and depth depending on the light and viewing angle.
Dimensions: Height including stopper 18 cm / 7.1 in; width 11.5 cm / 4.5 in; depth 6 cm / 2.4 in.
Condition: Very good antique condition. No visible chips, cracks or structural damage. A few minor surface scratches are present on the underside of the base, consistent with age and use and not noticeable when displayed.
