The celebrated Boréal pattern was created for Christofle by French designer Luc Lanel in 1927 and remains one of the house’s most distinctive Art Deco flatware designs. Its restrained geometric vocabulary is expressed through long, subtly faceted handles terminating in widened architectural ends, creating a remarkably clean and modern silhouette.

Christofle itself identifies Boréal as a design by Luc Lanel from the 1920s and notes its presentation at the 1937 International Exhibition of Arts and Techniques Applied to Modern Life in Paris, where its streamlined geometry embodied the period’s ambition to bring modern design into everyday life.

The present service comprises:

37 pieces in total, forming a service for twelve.

Each piece displays the characteristic Boréal profile and carries Christofle maker’s marks. The service retains a bright, attractive silver-plated finish and presents particularly well as a complete table ensemble.

The flatware remains in good vintage condition, showing light surface scratches and minor signs of use consistent with previous service. Importantly, the pieces have not been heavily worn or overused; the overall appearance remains clean, polished and elegant.

Presented in a fitted blue case with grey interior compartments.

Please note: the large Christofle Paris inscription visible on the satin lining inside the case was added later for presentation and advertising purposes and is not an original factory marking of the case. This does not affect the authenticity of the Christofle flatware itself.

Condition: Good vintage condition. Light surface scratches and signs of use throughout, consistent with age and previous service. The silver-plated surfaces retain a good overall lustre. No significant deformation observed. Presentation case with expected minor wear. The Christofle inscription on the interior satin lining of the case is a later promotional/display addition.
