Unlike common aggressive tourist carvings, this piece features a highly stylized, recumbent posture capturing the "King of the Jungle" in a moment of majestic repose. The sculpture is chiseled from a dense, beautifully grained hardwood (likely ironwood or ebony) and exhibits a spectacular two-tone finish. The artisan expertly utilized a traditional scorching technique to deepen the rich, ebonized black textures of the mane and sweeping paws, creating a striking contrast against the warm, warm-toned wood grain beneath.

The piece has been meticulously hand-polished to a smooth, high-gloss sheen that catches the light beautifully, emphasizing the fluid lines of the muscles and the intricate, multi-directional gouge work of the mane. A stunning blend of tribal folk art and mid-century modern design, this sculpture is perfect for a mantle, entry console, or bookshelf display. See less
