Beautiful pair of vintage Japanese hand-painted porcelain table lamps, dating approximately 1920–1950.
Each lamp features a dramatic black ground in the famille noire taste, richly decorated with colorful phoenix or pheasant-like birds perched among flowering peonies, branches, foliage, and rockwork. The detailed botanical and bird decoration is especially striking against the glossy black background.
The porcelain vessels have been mounted as lamps with turned wooden bases and coordinating wooden caps. Their generous scale and matching design make them an impressive pair for bedside tables, a living room, library, entryway, or traditional and Chinoiserie-inspired interior.
Sold as a pair. Both lamps are in very good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. Please review photographs closely for condition and decorative details.
Lampshades are included. The lamps will be partially disassembled for safer and more economical packing and shipping.
