Description
Authentic Herman Miller Eames Sofa Compact designed by Charles and Ray Eames — the real thing, not a reproduction. Herman Miller and Eames Office marks are present underneath and photographed.
The design dates to 1954, adapted from a built-in sofa the Eameses designed for their own Pacific Palisades home, and it has been in continuous production ever since. This example wears its original tan upholstery over the signature airy chrome pedestal base, with plush foam cushions on resilient webbing — firm, flexible comfort that seats three without the bulk of a traditional sofa.
A standout practical feature: the Sofa Compact was engineered to fold nearly flat for shipping, so it moves and freights far more cheaply than a conventional sofa of its size.
Provenance: carries a Colorado State University property inventory sticker — an institutional piece, likely from university surplus. The sticker is photographed and can be left in place or removed by the buyer.
