Traditionally associated with marriage and auspicious celebrations, the dragon and phoenix represent the harmonious union of yin and yang, symbolizing marital harmony, prosperity, and good fortune. The ivory field is decorated with stylized pink clouds and auspicious motifs, framed by a decorative border with repeated symbolic and animal designs. Woven in a distinctive palette of deep blue, soft pink, red, and ivory, the carpet displays attractive age-related patina and tonal variations throughout. China, late 19th to early 20th century.
