My mother purchased this this very simple ca 1910 solid oak wardrobe from an antiques dealer in Washington State during the late 1980s when she began collecting Arts & Crafts furniture. From Washington, she moved this piece to Georgia, then to Tennessee, to Kentucky, and then to New Mexico. Following her death, my father moved it back to Kentucky. A year after he died, I moved the wardrobe to Maryland where I live.
It's a very nice piece of antique furniture that would fit in with virtually any other decor. Like many early 20th-century pieces, the simple lines of this wardrobe goes with just about any other style of furniture. This wardrobe would make a great piece of antique furniture for someone who wanted to upgrade from Ikea or hand-me-down pieces. Even if you don't need a wardrobe (my Mom didn't use this as one), it can also function as a storage cabinet. To that end, my father made some extra shelves, which are easily removable, so it could serve very well as a storage cabinet or entertainment unit in case you wanted to place this piece in a living room, study, entry way, mud room, or a large kitchen. This cabinet has a single large, latching door, which has a round knob pull. There is a small lock, but no key.
In addition to this antique cabinet, I've also separately listed on Chairish some other pieces of my mom's early 20th-century furniture including J. K. Rishel table and chairs, a J. K. Rishel buffet, and a simple oak sideboard, so check out my other listings!

It retains its original finish and its original design. My Mom NEVER wanted to have any of her antiques refinished. Instead, she thought that any minor flaw to the piece only added to the overall character of that piece. less
