Standing an impressive 42 inches tall, this two-piece set is richly decorated from top to bottom with intricate geometric, foliate, and Renaissance-inspired motifs in saturated cobalt blue, golden yellow, turquoise, green, rust, and white. The exceptionally detailed hand-painted surface gives the piece tremendous architectural presence while allowing it to function as both a planter display and a freestanding decorative object.

The substantial columnar pedestal features numerous individually rendered decorative bands, a flared base, and a broad upper platform. The coordinating jardinière has a rounded form with complementary bands of floral and geometric decoration. Both pieces bear handwritten Franco Mari/Deruta markings indicating that they were painted by hand in Italy.
