Tyler Hays's BDDW at its most pared back: the Square Guest Counter Stool in solid natural maple, with a seat and back in dark Mulled Leather. It's square in profile, compact in footprint, and tall enough in the back to make a counter feel considered. Lined up along an island or a wet bar, a run of these reads as architecture.
The leather is vegetable-tanned and left to show its life. Natural scarring and variation in the hide are part of its character (see photos), and it will keep deepening with use. BDDW calls this a "living" finish, meant to develop patina over time. The maple frame is solid, American-made, and built as heirloom furniture.
Retails for $3,600 each from BDDW.
