Exceptional 19th century bronze statue of Ambroise Paré (1510-1590) by French sculptor Piere-Jean David (1788-1856). Ambroise Paré was a French military surgeon, considered a pioneer of modern forensic pathology and battlefield medicine. Signed "J.P. David" along the base and dated 1840. Foundry mark: Eck et Durand.
