Striking circa 1930 wrought iron console and matching mirror in the manner of celebrated American metalwork designer Oscar Bach. Mirror- measures-21" wide, 42' high
This highly decorative two-piece set features beautifully worked iron with dimensional roses, leaves, scrolling vines and elaborate pierced details. The demilune console is topped with richly figured dark marble and features an openwork gallery above a sculptural base embellished with hand-worked floral elements.
The coordinating elongated oval mirror repeats the console’s floral and scrolling motifs, with decorative ironwork extending above, below and along the sides of the frame.
The sophisticated combination of wrought iron, sculptural floral ornament and marble reflects the European-influenced decorative metalwork popular during the Art Deco period and closely associated with the work of Oscar Bach and his contemporaries.
A dramatic statement piece for an entry hall, foyer, powder room or other interior where its narrow demilune profile is especially useful.
Condition: Good vintage condition consistent with age and use. The marble top has chips to the two rear corners. The antique mirror plate shows age-related deterioration and would benefit from resilvering if a clearer reflective surface is desired. The aged mirror can also be retained for its authentic vintage character. Please see photographs for additional condition details.
Attribution: In the manner/style of Oscar Bach. No maker’s mark has been located, and the set is not being represented as a documented Oscar Bach work. See less
