Mid-20th-century Chinese Chinoiserie black lacquer 3-drawer jewelry or collector cabinet set on its custom-fitted elevated rack stand. Originating from the private collection of California artist Eve Paige Spencer and author/art collector Donner Spencer, acquired during their mid-century collecting period between the 1950s and 1990s.
Executed in the traditional Coromandel / incised lacquer style (Kuan Cai), the front facade and top panel feature carved, recessed scenes filled with polychrome pigments. The top depicts courtly figures in a serene garden courtyard, while the drawer fronts display a continuous architectural landscape of pavilions, bridges, and weeping willows.
Fitted with three stacked drawers, original brass Shou (longevity) lockplates, and drop bail pulls. The cabinet nests flush inside its original elevated black lacquer stand.
