Carved from pale ivory-beige travertine with fine linear veining and occasional fossilized pitting, the block reads as a single monolithic volume defined by natural banding and warm tonal variation. Straight vertical faces meet a flat square top with crisp edges to create a resolutely minimal geometry and a sculptural architectural silhouette. The top plane has a heightened polish while the vertical faces are smoothly finished, allowing the stone's character to assert itself without applied ornament. Corners are neatly executed and the design emphasizes pure volume and proportion through clean planes and controlled detail. Crafted to read as a single solid element, the pedestal's material mass projects a quiet, authoritative presence in a modern interior. It serves equally well as a sculptural plinth, a display stand for a single object, or an architectural accent within a minimalist scheme. Careful carving and finishing exemplify the considered Italian craft of the period and ensure the stone's natural rhythms remain central to the composition. The restrained profile and neutral palette make the piece readily adaptable to both modern and classic interiors. The pedestal is in excellent vintage condition.

Italy, circa 1970
