Introduce a vibrant burst of authentic East African heritage into your space with this original, mid-to-late 20th-century Tanzanian folk art painting. Rendered in the iconic Tingatinga style, this piece exemplifies the genre's celebrated visual language through bold graphic outlines, intensely saturated color blocks, and a beautifully surreal, interlocking wildlife composition. The artwork features two majestic, stylized giraffes intertwined with vibrant hornbills, set against a backdrop of local flora and two deeply expressive blue hippopotamuses at the base.
True to the classic Tingatinga tradition, the canvas/board is densely packed, celebrating the vibrant harmony and interconnectedness of the African safari ecosystem. Hand-painted using high-gloss enamel on a rigid hardboard panel, this collectible piece features a rich tactile texture and a brilliant sheen that catches the light beautifully. It is signed explicitly by the noted Tanzanian artisan "MBOMO" in the lower-left corner.
Design Styling Tip: An exceptional statement piece for eclectic, bohemian, or maximalist interiors. It looks stunning when paired with a custom floating frame to showcase the raw, authentic edges of the native board or styled on a gallery wall alongside mid-century modern furniture and organic wooden textures.

Paint & Canvas … moreThis original painting is in very good vintage condition, presenting beautifully with an authentic, rustic handmade character. Paint & Canvas Surface: The high-gloss enamel paint on canvas remains vibrant and visually stable. There is no major paint flaking, cracking, or canvas sagging. Light, natural surface texture variations are present, which are inherent to the artist’s hand-painted technique. Edges & Framing Presentation: The painting features a traditional wrapped canvas edge, which has been hand-stretched around a rigid fiberboard backing and secured with vintage brads/nails. The black painted border overflows slightly onto the canvas wrap at the back, showcasing its authentic studio origin. There is minor, honest fraying and light rubbing to the fabric at the extreme corners and outer edges, entirely consistent with age. Backing & Hardware: The unpainted fiberboard support is clean and dry with no water staining or warping. It is equipped with a securely attached, vintage-style hanging wire, making the piece ready to hang immediately upon arrival. less
