Antique hand-painted circus wagon panel.
A vibrant wooden panel once part of a traveling circus wagon, featuring the word "PONIES" in bold, ornate lettering. The front is richly decorated with carnival-style typography in red, gold, and green, capturing the whimsical spirit of 19th-century American showmanship. The reverse side is adorned with hand-painted theatrical drapery, suggesting its dual use as both signage and stage backdrop. These panels were designed to draw crowds and advertise featured acts as the circus moved from town to town. With its curved form and original paint, this piece is a rare and colorful artifact of early American entertainment history.
