The green volume is Pennsylvania: A History, Volume II, dating to 1926. The dark navy volume is Frederic A. Godcharles' Pennsylvania: Political, Governmental, Military and Civil, published by The American Historical Society in 1933.
Together, the two volumes offer both genuine Pennsylvania historical interest and wonderful decorative presence. Rather than being perfectly matched, the contrasting green and navy bindings create the collected appearance of books acquired over time, while the gold lettering visually ties the pair together.
At approximately 11 inches tall, these are substantial books with excellent shelf presence. They would be particularly handsome in a traditional library, study, office or Pennsylvania-themed collection, displayed between bookends or incorporated into a larger arrangement of antique books.
Dimensions: Each approximately 11"H × 8"W. Pair measures approximately 4.25"W across both spines.
Condition Statement: Good vintage condition with expected signs of age and use, including surface wear, rubbing and age-related toning to the bindings. The bindings retain attractive color and the gilt spine lettering displays well. Overall, the pair has an appealing aged character appropriate to books of this period. Please refer to photographs for additional condition details.
