Measuring nearly 40 inches square, the composition combines photographic collage, painted passages, gestural black linework, handwritten text, and layered surface abrasion into a forceful political image.
At the center, Keil incorporates black-and-white photographic imagery of uniformed police confronting a kneeling figure, then overlays the scene with expressive markings, arrows, blocks of color, and handwritten German text. The result is confrontational and deliberately unsettled — part reportage, part protest image, part Neo-Expressionist intervention.

Unlike Keil’s more familiar portraits and brightly colored figural paintings, this work is notable for its scale, political subject matter, and collage-based construction.
Its roughly 39-inch-square format gives it substantial architectural presence and allows the layered photographic and painted surfaces to read with real intensity from across a room.

The work is signed at the lower right “Peter Keil / Berlin 95” and contains additional handwritten inscriptions integrated throughout the composition in German.
