The … Read more This elegant Pair of Sterling Silver Corinthian Column & Acanthus Sabbath Candlesticks by Ludwig Nast originated in Poland, 1882. The matching pair presents a classical columnar silhouette, with turned shafts rising from square plinth bases into foliate collars and acanthus carved capitals that recall Corinthian order ornament. Each candlestick terminates in a cylindrical nozzle with a decorative floral motif rim and a shallow drip pan. The design emphasizes refined silverworking, with smooth highly polished surfaces contrasted by chased acanthus and a band of leaf detailing at the bases and collars. The square plinths are ornamented with raised circular rounds and an encircling band of leaf carving that provides an architectural presence. The silversmith's workmanship is evident in the precision of chasing and the clarity of the ornamental motifs, which reinforce the architectural language of the ensemble.
