Weintraub was one of the defining entertainment figures of the late 20th century, producing films including The Karate Kid and Ocean’s Eleven while also working extensively in music promotion and management with artists including Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, and John Denver.

The reverse retains an L.A. Packing, Crating and Transport inventory label, No. 033377, documenting the work within the Weintraub estate.

Also preserved on the reverse is an original handwritten label from FAR Gallery, 746 Madison Avenue, New York, identifying the work as “Watercolor #812” and recording a period gallery price of $450.

In Coney Island Capriccio, North reduces the familiar amusement landscape to a study in structure, atmosphere, and geometry. Boardwalk architecture and industrial forms are set against a dark, expansive sky, giving the composition a quiet theatrical quality that feels distinctly mid-century.

The combination of original gallery documentation, identified artist, New York exhibition history, and Jerry Weintraub estate provenance gives this work an unusually complete history.
