Pair of signed 19th-century oil paintings on canvas depicting atmospheric mountain landscapes with lakes, figures, cattle and boats. Each painting measures approximately 42.5 × 42.5 cm.

The original Dorotheum auction documentation records both works as signed “J. Poole” and identifies them as companion pieces (“Gegenstücke”), catalogued as “Überfuhr am Gebirgssee” and “Gebirgssee mit Kühen und figürlicher Staffage”.

The paintings are offered in their present condition, with age-related surface dirt, wear and craquelure; professional cleaning is recommended. Presented in matching antique giltwood frames with original gilding and decorative details. The frames show age-related wear, minor losses and localized cracks/separations, particularly at the corners. Please see detailed photographs.
