The model is documented in ikea’s 2001–2003 catalogues as a stackable chair by löwenhielm.

the warm grain of the wood contrasts quietly with the cool grey frame, giving the chair a light, architectural presence.

the gently curved plywood seat has a pronounced rolled front edge, while the separate veneered backrest sits within the continuous tubular frame. Its construction is simple and functional, with exposed layered plywood visible along the edges and small black spacers beneath the seat. The restrained combination of bent wood and steel is characteristic of ikea’s turn-of-the-century scandinavian design language. The kristian was conceived as a stackable chair, making its minimal form practical as well as visually distinctive.

good vintage condition with visible signs of age and use. The grey-painted metal frame shows some scratches. The wooden seat has surface wear and visible chips and losses to the veneer along the front edge, as shown in the photographs. The backrest also shows light scratches and age-related wear.
