Titled Bluebird on a Beach and dated 2005, the work depicts an oversized cobalt-blue bird surrounded by colorful fish against a richly layered aquatic background.

The reverse is hand-titled, signed/inscribed “Denise Regan,” dated 2005, and marked 20 x 16. Importantly, it retains its original gallery label identifying the work as Bluebird on a Beach, 2005, mixed media, 20 x 16 inches, with an original retail price of $4,000.

The painting also has documented exhibition provenance: Bluebird on a Beach was included in Regan’s 2006 exhibition at Pamela Williams Gallery in Amagansett, New York, as noted in contemporary coverage in The East Hampton Star.

Denise Regan has exhibited extensively, and her work is represented in public and institutional collections including the Brooklyn Museum, Cornell University, and the University of Chicago.

A distinctive and highly decorative example of Regan’s work, particularly appealing for a coastal interior, children’s space, or an eclectic collection of contemporary and folk-inspired art. See less
