A set of four French provincial dining chairs featuring carved wooden frames with curved crest rails centering a shell motif, double-slat ladder backs, and woven cane seats. The legs are cabriole-shaped and joined by serpentine stretchers with scroll details.
These chairs embody the provincial interpretation of the Louis XV Rococo style, originating in France during the mid-eighteenth century. Crafted by regional cabinetmakers for country homes and farmhouses, they adapted the elaborate court styles into sturdy yet graceful furniture using local woods like walnut or fruitwood. Today, these chairs are highly sought after by collectors and interior designers for adding rustic elegance and timeless French country charm to dining spaces.
