Vipp’s iconic Danish designer bin, presented in the timeless classic white finish. The Vipp 17 is the largest and most substantial model in Vipp’s celebrated collection, with a generous 30-liter (8-gallon) capacity and the unmistakable architectural aesthetic for which the brand is known.
The design is an internationally recognized icon of industrial design and is now part of the permanent architecture and design collection at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
Crafted from heavy-duty powder-coated steel, this substantial white bin features integrated side handles and a protective rubber base. Its clean, sculptural silhouette makes it as much a design object as a functional piece.
EXCLUSIVE U.S. AVAILABILITY
Vipp maintains a highly selective retail presence in the United States. The Vipp 17 is offered directly through Vipp in the U.S., rather than through a broad network of American retailers, while Vipp’s New York and Los Angeles studios are available by appointment. As a result, vintage examples of this particular model are especially uncommon to encounter on the U.S. secondary market.
CONDITION
The exterior is in excellent vintage cosmetic condition, with the classic white finish presenting beautifully. Please see photographs for a detailed representation of the piece and its condition.
IMPORTANT FUNCTIONAL CONDITION NOTE
The original foot-pedal mechanism is non-functioning and has been determined to be non-repairable. This piece is therefore being sold strictly as a manual lift-top canister. The lid opens by hand; the foot pedal should not be considered functional.

The classic white exterior shell and lid are pristine, and present beautifully as new. - Interior & Mechanism: The foot pedal mechanism is permanently non-functioning and has been verified by the manufacturer as unrepairable. The interior bottom floor of the outer shell (underneath where the inner steel bucket rests and not visible) features a small puncture hole where the internal pedal connection broke away. - Inner Liner: The included removable, galvanized-steel inner liner sits securely inside, completely concealing the bottom structural hole from sight during everyday use. The liner shows authentic signs of wear and standard aging oxidation from previous use in an office break room. Replacement liners are readily available through Vipp if a fresh interior is preferred. The lid must be opened manually. less
