Crafted from dense dark wood, likely Ebony (Heitan) or dark Zitan, this piece is a classic example of traditional Chinese literati desk accessories.

Design & Details:

Mountain Motif (Shanzi): The piece is carved with five distinct peaks, symbolizing stability, longevity, and the harmony of nature. The surface is intricately detailed with flowing, cloud-like, and wave-like relief carvings, giving it a dynamic and organic texture.

Material & Finish: The wood has a deep, almost black-brown tone with a rich, glossy patina, characteristic of aged Ebony or high-quality dark hardwoods. The grain is subtle but visible under the light.

Structure: It rests on a carved, undulating base that follows the contour of the mountains, ensuring it sits stably on a flat surface. It is perfect for holding calligraphy brushes, but equally suited as a stand for displaying a small teapot, a jade pendant, or a wrist mala. See less
