The design features a classical mask framed by fruit‑swag garlands; a motif drawn from 18th‑century English and Italian neoclassical garden ornament, reinterpreted by American cast stone producers in the 1940–1960 period.
Both urns are solid and well‑cured, with the expected hairline surface cracks that come with authentic cast stone. One urn presents slightly finer relief and a lighter tone; the other has a weightier base and deeper aggregate. Their drainage details also differ — one with a single central hole, the other with a hole plus a small channel extending toward the rim — a charming hallmark of hand casting rather than mass production.
