This is a stunning Chinoiserie (Japanned) Cabinet-On-Stand that dates to c. 1950-1960. Note the gorgeous highly detailed brass hardware. The painted Chinoiserie decoration is detailed and extends to both sides of the cabinet. The cabinet features a single interior shelf (more could be added) and is the perfect piece to be adapted to a bar-cabinet. We always like to leave the original surfaces of our pieces intact—for this cabinet, we have touched up the painted surface.
**This form of Cabinet-On-Stand was adapted from Chinese and Japan cabinets of the 15th - 17th centuries. Lacquered Japanned Cabinets-On-Stands became very popular in the Queen Anne (early 18th c.) and George II reigns—this cabinet derives its aesthetics from the early 18th c. English cabinets.
