A superb atlas lamp designed and produced by max sauze in 1975, this rare piece is particularly sought after in its gold finish, emblematic of 1970s french design and the designer's sculptural work with aluminum.
the lamp features the characteristic construction of sauze's lighting fixtures: a succession of thin aluminum strips, carefully curved and assembled to form a geometric composition with graphic lines. Their arrangement creates a remarkable interplay of light, shadow, and transparency, giving the piece a truly sculptural dimension.
its gold finish, particularly rare on the atlas model, accentuates the warmth of the reflections and brings an exceptional luminous presence to this decidedly space age composition. Atlas is particularly spectacular when lit, but also makes a striking decorative piece when unlit.
originally designed as a wall sconce, this piece has been electrified so that it can also be used as a table lamp. It offers two installation options, wall-mounted or simply placed on a piece of furniture, further enhancing its decorative and functional appeal.
a rare piece from the french space age
with its geometric volume, airy structure, and characteristic use of aluminum, atlas perfectly illustrates max sauze's approach, transforming repetitive metal elements into veritable luminous sculptures.
atlas is among max sauze's rare creations, and examples with a gold finish are even rarer. This combination gives this piece a particularly unique presence within the designer's oeuvre.
