Pastoe Harmony cabinet by Arnold Merckx in its original aubergine and pink-purple lacquer, with a distinctive 1980s postmodern appearance. The Harmony series was designed by Arnold Merckx for Pastoe. This example consists of two cabinet modules, a central drawer unit and a wide overhanging top. The geometric composition and combination of aubergine, pink-purple and black give the cabinet its distinctive postmodern character. It is made of wood, lacquered board and metal, with the original finish and color scheme.
Dimensions: 160 × 48 × 104 cm (W×D×H). Marked with the original Pastoe label. Sources: the original owner, the Ztijl archive and Eigen Huis & Interieur, April 1985, p. 23. The condition of the cabinet is very good, with light signs of use consistent with age. The cabinet is clean, sturdy and fully functional.
