The composition combines a richly rendered garden pavilion with architectural floor plans and elevations below, giving the work a beautiful balance of romantic French garden imagery and precise Beaux-Arts draftsmanship. Soft greens, dusty rose, lavender-gray, cream, and muted architectural tones make this an especially elegant decorative piece.

This 1990 edition was published by Éditions Porter of Bath, England, in association with the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris, with Devon Editions of Seattle identified as the U.S. distributor. Printed text beneath the image identifies the original 1877 work as an esquisse executed in watercolor and gouache over an India-ink drawing.

Presented under clear acrylic/plexiglass glazing in a large gold-toned faux-bamboo frame with a coordinating cream mat and fine gold border. The structured geometric frame complements the architectural subject particularly well.
