This example combines a richly … Read more A monumental Model 62 extension dining table designed by Henning Kjærnulf for Sorø Stolefabrik, Denmark. This example combines a richly figured teak top with solid oak construction and retains all four of its original extension leaves.

The combination of teak and oak is found in some of Danish design’s most distinguished furniture, bringing together contrasting grain, color, and texture. Here, the sweeping teak grain is the focal point, set against the more restrained oak framework. Rounded ends, a slim tabletop edge, and tapered legs give the table a clean profile despite its considerable scale.

All four original leaves are included, allowing the table to expand from its compact closed configuration into an exceptionally long dining surface. A folding center support provides additional support when extended.

Its dramatic change in scale is a defining feature of the Model 62, offering an everyday dining table that can accommodate much larger gatherings. Shown closed and fully extended to illustrate its proportions and the character of the wood.
