A teak sideboard by Marcel Gascoin, edition Alveole, made in France in the 1960s and stamped Alveole inside the cabinet. Two solid doors flank a central vitrine with sliding glass panes, with two drawers below. Shuttle-shaped metal handles, and a fine black lacquered metal base that lifts the whole piece off the floor. The teak has a warm tone and a ribboned grain. Gascoin was one of the designers of the French Reconstruction, and this is the practical, well-proportioned cabinet-making that came out of it. It measures 179 cm wide, 88 cm high and 46 cm deep, and does not dismantle. Please note the interior shelves of both cupboards are missing. They are plain rectangular panels: any timber merchant or joiner will cut new ones to size quickly. This piece has an attribution mark,
