An iconic set of 4 Mid-Century Modern dining chairs (popularly known as the "Lollipop" or "Lízatko" chairs, model 22-19), designed by the prominent Czech designer František Jirák and manufactured by Tatra nábytok in former Czechoslovakia during the late 1960s. This highly collectible set is a brilliant example of the organic Eastern European design era, heavily influenced by the Czechoslovak "Brussels Style". The chairs feature an elegantly sculpted, ergonomically curved backrest crafted from thermoformed beech plywood. A distinctive horizontal cutout handle at the base of the backrest serves as both a practical element and a striking visual hallmark of Jirák’s design language. The upper frame rests on slim, splayed compass-style wooden legs that give the set a light, dynamic, and clean Scandinavian-inspired silhouette.
Presented in their original vintage condition, the bentwood frames boast a beautiful, warm natural grain with a soft age-earned patina. The integrated seat cushions are upholstered in a contrasting deep red fabric.
Combining rigourous structural crafting with atomic-era aesthetics, this timeless set of 4 chairs makes a sophisticated statement around any mid-century modern or contemporary dining table. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
