The body has a distinctive octagonal, geometric shape and is crafted from thick, transparent blue glass. The piece features an original brass mount and a hinged, faceted lid.

Particularly striking is the rich, handcrafted decoration: gilded ornaments, white dotted appliqués, and relief garlands, creating a vivid, ornamental contrast with the cobalt-turquoise glass.

The object can be described as a desk inkwell, though similar forms may also have been used as small containers for perfume or cosmetics. Due to the lack of a manufacturer’s mark, I do not attribute it to a specific glassworks or designer.
