Rich colours move through the composition, while blurred edges create a sense of shifting light, mist, and movement. The landscape feels both observed and imagined, as though nature is momentarily disappearing and re-emerging before the viewer’s eyes. Made with tempera, chalk and charcoal on canvas.

As the artist recalls: “During our hikes across the mountains and valleys and through the ancient craters of La Palma (Canary Islands), we watched as fog or clouds rolled over the peaks at incredible speed, enveloping everything where, just moments before, there had been a sweeping view of the island. Conversely, we might find ourselves inside a dense bank of fog that would suddenly lift, revealing magnificent vistas.” Signed by Maker See less
