Rare French outdoor set attributed to René Malaval, model Radar, comprising one perforated metal table and two matching armchairs, France, 1950s.
This highly sculptural set is made of painted perforated steel and tubular metal, with the characteristic graphic lines associated with the Radar series. The ensemble includes a rectangular table with central parasol hole and two armchairs with curved tubular arms and perforated seats and backs.
A particularly attractive feature of this set is its strong original multi-layered patina, with superimposed shades of blue, yellow, reddish brown and areas of surface oxidation. This aged finish has been deliberately preserved, as it contributes greatly to the authenticity, decorative impact and brutalist character of the ensemble.
The construction is solid and substantial, with a quality of fabrication typical of mid-century French garden furniture.
The set remains in good vintage condition, with visible wear, paint losses, oxidation and surface irregularities consistent with age and outdoor use. These elements are part of its aesthetic and historical appeal.
