Bellini for targetti sankey, italy, circa 1970s. An expressive example of italian space age lighting, the lamp combines a polished chrome-plated structure with black lacquered elements and a distinctive flexible foam-covered central section. Its curved profile terminates in a spherical chrome shade, giving the lamp an unmistakably futuristic and almost anthropomorphic appearance. The flexible “elbow” section allows the upper portion of the lamp to be repositioned, providing both directional lighting and a changing sculptural silhouette. This unusual combination of chrome, black surfaces and articulated construction reflects the experimental approach to italian lighting design during the 1970s. The chrome surfaces have been carefully repolished and the electrical system renewed. The lamp retains minor signs of use and age consistent with its vintage character. There is a crack in the flexible foam section, as shown in the photographs. This area will be professionally glued and stabilized free of charge before shipment. Fitted with one e27/e26 bulb socket and compatible with both european and us bulbs. Designer: e.
