Christ is rendered in graphite in an old master style, and the characters above in oil. We are left to consider the connection between the ancient, mystical event of the burial and resurrection of Christ and the mundane modern world we walk through - and perhaps bridge this gap intellectually and spiritually. There is a church whose location and name escape me that invokes this same concept, with everyday modern citizen "saints" around the walls in its murals, implying that the chain remains unbroken. This work was painted on a wood panel. Henderson did not add her signature to the front of the painting, likely because it would have been distracting in the bottom portion where Christ is shown. Image area itself is 36" x 36". Comes framed and ready to hang. See less
