Antique reverse-painted glass advertising sign for Andrew Usher & Co. of Edinburgh, Scotland. Dating to approximately 1920, the sign promotes Usher's "Special Reserve" and O.V.G., or Old Vatted Glenlivet, Scotch whisky.
The beveled glass sign features a reverse-painted black background with stenciled lettering that allows the reflective foiled backing to show through. Ornate silver-toned typography creates a bold contrast against the dark ground. The sign is presented within a simple silver-toned frame.
O.V.G. was an Andrew Usher & Co. whisky and should not be confused with The Glenlivet brand.
