An uncommon coordinated collection of six mid-century still-life art plaques reproducing paintings by celebrated Dutch artist Hendrik “Henk” Bos (1901–1979), produced by Pictorial Art Laminates, Inc. of Yonkers, New York.
Richly atmospheric and exceptionally decorative, this six-piece collection brings the quiet romance of a European country house to the wall. Two larger floral compositions are joined by four intimate tabletop still lifes depicting copper, pewter, earthenware, creamware, fruit, flowers, bread and gathered domestic objects. Together, the plaques create the warmth and visual continuity of a collection assembled over generations.
Bos was a largely self-taught painter from Huizen, North Holland, whose realistic-impressionist work carried forward the visual traditions of the 17th-century Dutch masters. He became particularly admired for his ability to capture the contrasting surfaces of copper, tin, old pottery, ripe fruit and flowers. That sensitivity is beautifully represented here—from the glow of a copper kettle and the weight of a dark earthenware jug to the softness of garden flowers and folded table linens.
The two larger companion plaques include a varied garden bouquet in jewel-toned blue, violet, burgundy, cream and orange, and an abundant arrangement of zinnia-like blooms in warm claret, coral, dusty rose and ochre. The four horizontal compositions depict:
• Sliced melon, pears and oranges with a dark brown earthenware jug
• Fruit and berries arranged with a period metal measure
• Peaches, tomatoes and grapes with blue-and-white pottery, pewter and green cloth
• A breakfast-table arrangement of copper kettle, eggs, green apples, creamware, bread rolls and checked linen
Each image is laminated directly to a substantial fiberboard plaque with an integral beveled edge finished in warm, mottled brown. This framelike construction allows the imagery to remain uninterrupted while giving each plaque a finished architectural presence. All six retain their original metal chain hangers.
Original reverse stamps identify Pictorial Art Laminates, Inc. of Yonkers, New York. The four horizontal still lifes carry company catalog number #119, while the two larger floral compositions carry catalog number #128. These numbers are manufacturer catalog identifiers rather than limited-edition numbers.
From a private Virginia collection, the six plaques have been preserved together as one coordinated group. Finding complementary Henk Bos reproductions individually is possible; encountering six related examples together—with two intentional scales, corresponding catalog groupings, matching construction and all original hanging chains—is considerably less common.
The collection can be installed as a symmetrical six-piece gallery wall, with the floral pair above the four horizontal compositions, or divided among a kitchen, breakfast room, dining room, pantry or garden room. Its muted Old World palette is especially compelling in English Country, grandmillennial, cottagecore, European farmhouse and Ralph Lauren–inspired interiors.
These are vintage decorative reproductions after paintings by Henk Bos rather than original paintings. The artist’s signature appears within each reproduced image and is not hand-applied. Display easels and surrounding accessories are not included.
Provenance:
From a private Virginia collection. Retained as a coordinated six-piece group with matching Pictorial Art Laminates construction, original chain hangers, and corresponding manufacturer catalog numbers on the back of the artwork.
Why this collection is special:
Far more compelling than an individually assembled grouping, this uncommon six-piece collection preserves related Henk Bos compositions in their original Pictorial Art Laminates presentation. Its two complementary scales, matching period construction, documented manufacturer marks, and complete set of original chain hangers give the collection unusual decorative continuity and exceptional gallery-wall presence.

The printed surfaces retain rich, nuanced color and present beautifully when displayed. Close inspection reveals scattered light surface marks, rubbing and small nicks along the finished beveled edges, including a minor chip along one upper reverse edge. The painted fiberboard backs show expected age-related surface variation. All six original metal chain hangers remain securely attached and exhibit natural oxidation consistent with age. No major cracks, breaks or significant lifting of the laminated images were observed. Please review all detailed photographs, which form an important part of the condition description. less
