From the living estate of Arizona based brutalist sculpture artist John Gleason, an exceptional and highly sculptural 19th-century French Renaissance Revival hunt buffet à deux corps (two-body hutch), masterfully crafted from solid walnut with an incredibly rich, warm patina. This magnificent statement piece beautifully celebrates traditional French artistry, featuring deeply carved full-relief ornamentation throughout.
The striking upper hutch features an imposing, intricately scrolled crown crest adorned with heavily carved rosettes and foliate motifs. Below the crown, two glass-front cabinet doors open to reveal spacious display shelving—ideal for showcasing fine china, crystal, or collectibles. The upper section is structurally anchored by finely turned, fluted column pillars that rest gracefully on the lower cabinet base.
The lower buffet sideboard boasts a beautifully contoured, multi-tiered demilune silhouette. It features dual upper drawers intricately detailed with deep relief organic carvings. Below the drawers, two large cabinet doors showcase spectacular, deep-relief hand-carved panels depicting hunting motifs and lush scrolling foliage. The entire piece is flanked by beautifully carved rounded corner panels, resting firmly on a substantial molded base.
A commanding, museum-quality addition that brings old-world character and timeless sophistication into both traditional and modern grand interiors.

The marble top of the piece does show some wear and has a water ring (see photos.) The owner has removed most of the imperfections from the marble, but I've marked this piece as "needs restoration," simply because more work will be needed to completely remove the ring from the top. Please note this is an impressive piece of art/furniture, and the damage doesn't diminish that in any way. less
