Striking pair of hand-carved wooden goose sculptures, signed/inscribed “H. Baigmohammad” and dated “4-25-78” on the underside.
The pair features beautifully elongated curved necks, streamlined bodies, and subtly carved wing and facial details. Their simplified, fluid silhouettes have a wonderful 1970s modernist and organic studio-craft aesthetic, while the warm natural wood grain gives each bird individual character.
The two different heights create an especially sculptural composition when displayed together. Beautiful on a credenza, console, mantel, or bookshelf in a mid-century modern, organic modern, Scandinavian-inspired, or eclectic interior.
Acquired in Berkeley, California. The identity of H. Baigmohammad as the artist/maker has not been independently confirmed, so the sculptures are being offered based on the original signed and dated inscription.
