Offered is a vibrant, one-of-a-kind kinetic whirligig weathervane by celebrated Tucson, Arizona folk artist William Holzman. Hand-signed by the artist on the underside, this piece is a masterpiece of desert storytelling, featuring intricate painted details and fully functional wind-activated movement.
The artwork sets a lively Sonoran Desert scene atop a decorated green base and lattice tower. It showcases a hand-carved figure in a red cap standing among blooming saguaro and prickly pear cacti, paired with a spotted bird and a striking yellow-and-blue spotted creature acting as the wind mechanism. The directional tail is beautifully hand-painted on both sides—one side featuring a desert dog under a blue sky, and the other depicting a desert cottontail rabbit.
When the wind catches the kinetic elements, the mechanism animates the scene into motion while pointing directly into the breeze.
