Celebrated for their raw materiality and striking graphic presence, mid-century Anatolian hemp flatweaves offer a remarkably modernist aesthetic rooted in deep utilitarian tradition. Woven on narrow domestic village looms, this 1950s flatweave was ingeniously constructed in separate vertical panels or *parça* that were subsequently stitched together to form a wider, functional floor covering. The weaver utilized hand-spun hemp—a demanding, highly resilient fiber prized by agrarian communities—to create a dense, deeply tactile surface with a heavy, architectural drape.
