This is a stunning, statement-sized vintage impressionist landscape oil painting featuring a vibrant countryside scene. The artwork highlights a brilliant, richly textured field of wildflowers in the foreground using impasto brushwork, leading back toward a sleepy village with red-roofed cottages and a central figure taking a stroll under a soft, cloud-filled sky.
The painting bears the artist's signature, W. Hodges, in its signature red script in the lower corner. This piece beautifully captures the late 20th-century commercial impressionist movement, heavily popular in the 1970s and 1980s.
