the chair features a distinctive, solid wooden frame with beautifully contoured armrests and an original swivel base on casters. Preserved beneath the seat is an exceptionally interesting, heavy-duty hillcrest spring mechanism used to adjust the recline resistance and operation of the chair.

the original marking is preserved on the metal mechanism:
“hillcrest – reg'd trade mark – w.h.f. – made in england”
this is an authentic english product, not a modern reproduction. The distinctive hillcrest chair actions mechanisms are found in english executive and office chairs from the early 20th century. Surviving examples are currently offered by european auction houses and antique dealers.


the chair has a very interesting, classic design and is perfect as a study chair, library chair, or for a stylish office, studio, or vintage/antique interior.

condition: preserved in its original condition, with visible signs of use and the passage of time. The upholstery shows scuffs and surface wear, as seen in the photos. The wooden frame is preserved in an attractive, original condition. The mechanism bears natural signs of age and use.
