Characteristic of the design are its generous, softly upholstered form and adjustable backrests. A patented mechanism, concealed within the sofa, allows the individual back sections to be moved from a low position to a high, supportive position. The maralunga was awarded the compasso d’oro in 1979.

the two sofas offered here are two two-seaters from cassina's first series, produced in 1974. They are fully upholstered in high-quality brown leather, which has developed a particularly beautiful, natural patina over the years. The soft seat cushions, voluminous armrests, and movable backrests give the design its distinctive appearance. It was precisely the combination of its understated exterior form and its then-innovative adjustability that made the maralunga one of cassina's most successful designs. The individually adjustable backrests not only change the seating comfort but also the silhouette of the furniture – from a low, open design to a high backrest with a pronounced headrest.

condition: good original vintage condition with signs of age and use. The brown leather shows an even patina with creases and a few superficial scratches. There are visible signs of wear on some edges. One armrest shows more wear; see the detailed photos. Overall, the leather is well-maintained and has an authentic, age-appropriate appearance.
