A very elegant and stylish coffee table in solid teak, designed by niels bach and manufactured by a/s niels bach møbelfabrik in randers, denmark, in the 1960s.
niels bach is primarily associated with well-made tables in teak, where the natural beauty of the material is combined with clean lines and well-thought-out constructions. A/s niels bach møbelfabrik was founded in randers in the mid-1960s and belonged to the generation of danish furniture manufacturers that contributed to spreading danish modernism internationally. The company's furniture is still appreciated today for its fine proportions, solid craftsmanship and timeless design.
the round table top is made of solid teak and has a vibrant grain and a warm, rich tone that beautifully highlights the natural character of the wood. Despite the solid material, the top is unusually thin and sleek, giving the table a light, elegant and almost floating appearance.
the table stands on four round and slightly tapered legs that are placed far out towards the edge of the table. The legs are connected, which gives the table both stability and an interesting architectural expression. The construction becomes a clear part of the design without taking attention away from the beautiful tabletop.
a great advantage of solid teak is that the material is both durable and can be cared for over a long period of time. If the tabletop gets scratches, marks or stains over the years, the surface can be carefully sanded and re-treated if necessary. Unlike a thin veneered surface, there is a continuous layer of teak here, which gives the table good conditions to be preserved and used for many years to come.
the solid top makes the table a practical choice even in a home where the furniture is actually used. At the same time, the thin profile gives an exclusive and refined impression – an unusually successful combination of durability and visual lightness.
the table gives a very classic expression in its environment and fits equally well in modern homes as in more traditional interiors. The clean and timeless shape means that it can easily be combined with furniture and decor from all eras.
